Spouse Program members are warmly welcome to join our next Coffee Room on Thursday 9 October.

Join us as we hear about exciting life opportunities for international spouses, featuring guest speakers from our own community and a new Spouse Program partner!

What is this Coffee Room about?

The theme of this Coffee Room is Life Reboot. Many of us have already experienced this through our move to Finland, but we want to explore it in another exciting way that’s open to us here – going back to higher education as adults.

In Finland, lifelong learning and returning to education is very common and widely encouraged. People of all ages naturally re-enter studies at different stages of life, and international residents are fully welcomed to join.

The Helsinki region is home to ten higher education institutions, all of which provide international study programmes and open studies in English. These provide exciting learning opportunities for us!

Why should I consider this?

For many, starting studies in a new country is a brilliant way to reboot your life. You learn new skills, build your confidence, and make relevant connections with like-minded peers.

Whether you are looking to develop your career, explore a new field, or simply challenge yourself, studying can open exciting new doors for you!

What to expect

At this Coffee Room, we’ll explore the topic in a fun and relatable way through our guest speakers:

  • Shintaro Iwai, a Spouse Program member and a new student at Aalto University, will share what is was like decide to study again, navigate the application process and begin studies in Aalto
  • Marika Antikainen from the University of Helsinki will present the wide range of study opportunities in English available there
  • Dušica Božović from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences will tell about SIMHE (Supporting Immigrants in Higher Education in Finland)

Alongside the talks, we will host fun activities designed to help you connect with new people in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. You will also get the latest updates on our upcoming events.

Join the event to enjoy:

  • Cosy vibes and fun activities
  • Inspiring talks by our guest speakers
